Finding Your Birth Time

Your birth time is very important in Soul Astrology because without it we can’t tell your Soul Sign. For many popular astrology reports you can use a birth time of 12 noon and still get a good general sense, which allows you to enjoy astrology, although having your birth time greatly increases the accuracy of your information.

In Soul Astrology it is especially important because we use your Rising Sign (the sign that was rising on the horizon at the exact time you were born) to determine your Soul’s path. … and the Rising Sign changes about every two hours throughout the day!

Usually with a bit of investigation you can narrow it down.

It’s best to start simply:

First check your birth certificate, if you have one. Many states and countries went through periods where they recorded birth times on the birth certificate – you might just get a lucky break!

If you can, chat with your parents, older relatives, and/or anyone else who might remember the day you were born and try to narrow your birth time down as much as you can.

Ask them questions like:

– Was it early morning or almost lunchtime?

– Was it after lunch, and if so, was it before or after dinner?
(Things like that jog people’s memories because most people work around mealtimes!)

– Was it light or dark outside?
In the case of the Dalai Lama, his Mother said he was born early morning before sunrise, while his sister (who delivered him) said it was the middle of the night. Astrologer Jampa Shaneman was able to rectify his chart and arrive at a birth time of 4:38am!

– Did anyone work at a job with regular hours, …and if so can they recall your birth in relation to their working day?  For example were they just starting work, on their lunch break, or just finishing work when they heard of your birth?

I remember a children’s TV show in the UK that always opened with “It’s Friday it’s five to five and it’s Crackerjack!” (Older UK readers may remember that one!) We were watching that show when we got the call that my baby brother was born. My Mother (and his!) was able to confirm his birth time as 5:10pm but if I had nothing else to go on that TV show would have given me a 30-minute window!

Once you’ve narrowed down your search, you may find you have a choice between two or more signs. For example you may have been born in the morning, but the signs change from Cancer to Leo and Virgo in the timeframe you are using.

Tuning in to Your Soul Sign

Use the Rising Sign calculator to determine which signs fall into the timeframe that you think you were born. Then read and contemplate on the Soul descriptions for those signs. Many people feel a surge of energy or get a strong intuititive sense when they read about their Soul Sign.

Also, if you are familiar with dowsing, this is also another method that I have found very helpful for tuning in to your Soul Sign. Your Soul Sign is a tangible energy that you are born with and carry throughout your life. It forms a central part of your energy signature, so it makes sense that you would be able to find your own Soul vibration through dowsing.

I have had clients who have thought it wasn’t possible to find their birth time because their parents had passed on, and they had no siblings. Then a few months later they found their birth certificate or met an old neighbor who remembered! Anything can happen once you put your intention out to the Universe!

Just do your best, and good luck with your search!

Note: If nothing else works the birth time CAN be determined through a process called chart rectification. This has to be done by an experienced astrologer. I don’t offer this service at this time, but you could search for a professional astrologer that does.
